411: Think your love life needs some Rx? In Jacques Offenbach’s lively, heart-warming opera, we meet “Hoffman”, a terribly-unlucky-in-love poet who’s so smitten with an opera singer named “Stella”, we know it can only lead to trouble. The juicy tale, set in three acts, includes all the usual delights: love triangles, mistaken identities, a mad scientist, an evil nemesis, and a dwarf named “Pitichinaccio”. Who steals Hoffman’s heart as the curtain drops? We can’t tell but it’s well worth the wait.
March 22, 2014
Where: National Croquet Center, 700 Florida Mango Road, West Palm Beach
When: 7:00 p.m. – when the cows come home.
$$$: $150 (tax-deductible) in advance; for tickets click HERE.
411: You don’t own any cowboy boots and cattle prints scare you (hey, this may be the South, but it ain’t Texas!). Relax, no one will care. Wear some denim and say, “Yeehaw!” a lot. (Or check out the chic recommendations from our friends at The Deux Luxe.) This cool, cowboy-inspired affair has loads of highlights, including: mechanical bulls, food and whiskey and tequila bars, a silent auction, and the “Country Boy Anthem’s” Tom Jackson Band. Plus, interior design demigod and Queer Eye For The Straight Guy star, Thom Filicia, will be on hand. Ask him about that Academy Award toilet-paper holder he gave to a client – then text us what he tells you. #yeehaw
