411: Judged in front of a nearly-inebrated audience, everyone’s welcome to vent lyrically on sex, politics, or any topic you wouldn’t touch on a first date. At the evening’s end, one rad rhymer will be crowned poet laureate, a title they’ll hold until the next Poetry Slam on September 5.

What: Test Kitchen: Sol Food
Where: Social House, 512 Lucerne Ave., Lake Worth
When: Thursday, August 3; 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.
$$$: $80 per person
411: The Test Kitchen is not your commonplace culinary pop-up. The brainchild of food photographer Libby Volgyes, the mixed collaborative dining extravaganza delights in eyebrow-raising ingredient pairings devised by the most creative and affluent toques in Palm Beach County. Tonight’s five-course, gluten-free dinner will be prepared by PB Catch’s chef Aaron Black and The Regional’s pastry chef Sarah Sipe and will showcase dishes like lamb and clam Bolognese and a vanilla bean pavlova served with caramelized bananas, mango curd, and a coconut-lime sorbet. Meals that help others always taste better so a portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign which aims to eradicate childhood hunger. Seating is limited so hurry to r.s.v.p. your spot.

What: Mama Gizzi’s Underground Suppah Club
Where: 2212 N. Dixie Hwy., Lake Worth
When: Sunday, August 6; starts at 7:00 p.m.
$$$: $45 per person
411: Families who unite in epicurean solidarity are happy ones, and Leah Gizzi would know. For more than a decade, the raven-haired chef has been filling bellies and expanding waistlines with her interpretative family-style Italian dinners she hosts every Thursday through Sunday at her Lake Worth storefront. Today, the Underground Suppah Club caters to individual groups with up to 18 guests and includes 6-7 courses (standard for an Italian dinner) like homemade ravioli lollipops, wild mushroom-sausage lasagna, and lemoncello-marscapone cupcakes Gizzi makes by hand and serves herself (she also supplies pastas and Italian-style sauces to restaurants and hotels like Boca Raton’s Max’s Grille and The Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa in Manalapan). She has one suggestion for guests: wear loose clothing. Apparently, guests leave feeling stuffed like a creamy cannoli. Now that’s sweet.
