Here’s a list of our favorite “what’s happenings” to dress up for and crash this week.
THE PERFECT CHEER
What: “The Kosher Cheerleader: A Truish Jewish Love Story”
Where: PGA Arts Center, 4076 PGA Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens
When: Through Sunday, August 27
$$$: $45-$59; click HERE to purchase tickets
411: In Sandy Gelfound’s convivial, thought-provoking, one-woman show, the talented comedian portrays 43 different characters as she recounts the joys of being raised by a Jewish atheist father and a Christian gypsy flamenco dancer mother (and you thought your parents made an odd couple?), her weight struggles, being an Oakland Raiders cheerleader, and immersing herself in Orthodox Judaism. Hurry up and grab your bubbe—this show’s too mishegas to miss.
What: Voltaire Grand Opening
Where: 526 Clematis Street, West Palm Beach
When: Thursday, August 24 to Saturday, August 26; 9:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
$$$: Free; includes complimentary drinks until close
411: Named after the French writer/philosopher who mocked the aristocracy and advocated for free speech, Voltaire is West Palm’s cool new kid on the block. Nightlife impresario Rodney Mayo’s splashy club-lounge will serve hip tipples with creative ingredients like mead and will showcase indie bands and lesser known musical genres on a weekly rotation. Put two hands together tonight for “Public Sound Collective;” on Friday, “Dead And Loving It” will host an album release party with bands “Prison Warder” and “The Grumps;” and “Gold Dust Lounge,” a surf-rock, acid-jazz band from Miami, will take the stage on Saturday. We smell a rock revolution.
What: Sip & Shop
Where: Elizabeth Ave. Station, 1500c Elizabeth Ave., West Palm Beach
When: Friday, August 25; 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
$$$: Free; click HERE to RSVP
411: You read those two little words and thought, “Social drinking and putting a few extra clicks on my cc…where do I sign up?” Well, we couldn’t think of a better Friday night ritual than sipping frosé cocktails and searching for our next “I-need-that-right-now” tucked somewhere amongst the Station’s myriad stalls. The relaxed, air-conditioned setting will feature eclectic wares by twenty local vendors like The House of Perna, Simplicity in Mind, Rich Hippies, and Elizabeth Ave. Station’s creator Gather & Seek. If you’re around this weekend, don’t miss the Dama pop-up and sample sale on Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27.

What: Age-Defying Skincare Beauty Class
Where: Sephora stores; including The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens and Town Center at Boca Raton
When: Sunday, August 27; times vary based on availability
$$$: Free; click HERE to schedule an appointment
411: As a kid, our bedtime ritual was washing our face with ordinary hand soap. Today, our medicine cabinet sags with expensive cleansers, moisturizers, serums, and scrubs. In this interactive workshop, skin advocates will demonstrate how to achieve gorgeous, dewy, younger-looking skin in 45 minutes. We can’t think of any drawbacks save why they didn’t host this workshop, like, 20 years sooner.
